Firstly, we would like to thank every single person that showed up last night. We cannot express our gratitude, nor emphasize how grateful the Breath in Poetry collective truly is. You guys are thus far one of the best audiences we have had to date. Although Rouge was to its capacity, the waitresses were given no difficulties, and everyone complied to the rules that were set. There was no issue that arose throughout the event either. Thank you for your time, your love for poetry and endless support. Like Liam and Colin from the 2011 Edmonton Slam Team said, you guys give meaning to poetry.
Thank you to Rouge Lounge/Rose Bowl for being a great venue in and out. The servers were great and so were the owners, the managers and the bar tender.
The Slams!
The Summer Slam poets were at their best. They performed for the joy of sharing their poetry, and the audience showed their appreciation through finger snaps, laughter and thunderous applause afterwards. All the poets did great, be we all know there must be a victor, and the judges made sure of that.
Chow Mien event, Bert, Alexander, Ahmed and Anthony came to compete. They performed for three tough rounds but eventually Bert aka Dirt Gritie succeeded as the 2nd annual Rouge Summer Slam champion. Congratulations on taking first place, it was well earned. Ahmed Ali came in Second and Chow Mien Event in third. We would like to emphasize that all the poets did great and should continue to share their poetry as often as possible.
On to the 2011 Edmonton Slam Team
It was clear from the audience’s reaction that the 2011 Edmonton Slam team, consisting of Mary Pinkoski, Collin Matty, Liam Coady, Chris krueger and Ahmed Ali, put on a great show. Many of the audience members left assured that the team would do exceptionally well this year in Toronto.
If you somehow missed the team, or want to hear more of them, you can catch them at these locations and dates.
