2012 Slam Season is Upon us!

3….2….1… BREATHE!

Hello Family,

Guess what? No, Monday has not been incorporated into the weekend. You would just end up hating Tuesdays, and Tuesdays are Poetry nights.  We can’t have that.

The 2012 Slams are here!!! And they have arrived sooner than expected.  Usually, we began the Slams in February after taking a seasonal break.  However, this year the Slams start much earlier to give poets a greater chance at becoming part of the 2012 Edmonton Poetry Slam Team.

The dates are as follow:

NOTE: Dates have been adjusted so please pay close attention!

November 15 -Slam

November 29th – Slam

Winter Break December 6th – January 24th 

January 31st – Slam

February 14th – Slam

February 28st – Slam

March 13th – Slam

March 27 – Slam

April 10th – Slam

Also, we have some great features lined up for the remainder of this year  and throughout the 2012 season.
Features such as Edmonton’s Poet Laureate, Moe Clark and many more. You will not be disappointed.

The Winners of the 2012 Slam Team will go to Saskatoon to defend Edmonton’s 2011 CFSW Championship Title.
If you were not already aware, Mary Pinkoski, Ahmed Ali, Collin Matty and Liam Coady went to Toronto to compete in the 2011 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word against 19 other teams and came back home as  CFSW Champions.  If you didn’t already know, now you know….

TEAM EDMONTON HOMECOMING – TONIGHT @ 9pm

We celebrate the return of the 2011 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Champions, TEAM EDMONTON!!

In only our second year at the national festival, team Edmonton competed with 19 teams from cities across Canada and will bring home the Championship trophy TONIGHT!

Join us as we welcome the team: Mary Pinkoski, Ahmed Ali, Colin Matty and Liam Cody and recap the amazing poems and moments that lead to the victory.

The Breath In Poetry Collective is so proud to welcome home TEAM EDMONTON as the 2011 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Champions!!!

In only our second year competing at the national festival, team Edmonton showed poets from 19 teams representing cities across Canada, why we are called the City of Champions.

This Tuesday night, join us at Rouge Poetry for a special evening with your favorite poets, 2011 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Champions: Mary Pinkoski, Ahmed Ali, Colin Matty and Liam Cody as we recap the amazing poems and moments that lead to this great victory.
