Hi Family!
We hope you are all enjoying a safe and wonderful Canada day long weekend. There has been lots going on within our Poetry Slam family and we want to keep you all in the loop.
After months of competition we formed a slam team at our SLAM finals in April. Colin Matty, Medgine Maturin, Liam Coady, Kathryn Lennon and Sara Al Souqi were prepared to represent us on the national stage this October in Saskatoon.
Due to some personal obligations Liam Coady has decided to step down from the team. His role would typically have been filled by Sara Al Souqi our alternate, however Sara decided to maintain her role as team alternate and as such we reached out to the next poet in line based on our finals results. We are pleased to welcome Bert Richards (aka Gritie) to the Edmonton Poetry SLAM team.
This Tuesday, join us at Rouge Lounge as we re-introduce you to the team that will defend our championship at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. This event will serve as part of the fundraising efforts to get our team to CFSW. Please come out and support your team as they share the poems that earned them their places on the team.
