Tuesday August 7th – Missie Peters – Where’s my flying car?!

Tomorrow night is set to be another fantastic night of Rouge Poetry. Every Tuesday night without fail we are at Rouge Lounge @ 8pm bringing you your weekly dose of spoken word poetry.

We have a fantastic season of poetry planned for you with features from around Canada and beyond. On August 7th, BIP Welcomes Missie Peters to the Rouge Poetry stage.

Missie Peters is taking her second solo show, ‘Where’s My Flying Car?!’ on tour across Western Canada this summer.

Missie Peters is an award-wining spoken word performer from Victoria, BC. She is a two-time Victoria Slam Champion, the former slam master, one half of the improvised spoken word duo SpeakEasy and the director of Not Your Grandma’s Poetry. She currently produces the annual Victoria Spoken Word Festival. Her poetry finds the personal in the political and finds the metaphor in the mundane. She is a huge science fiction geek.

‘Flying Car’ is a futuristic romp through the eyes of an array of fascinating characters, including a robotic grocery store cashier, a cyborg dancer and an archaeologist digging for computer parts. The show combines spoken word, comedy and theatre into a compelling critique with “an emotional resonance… that even Spock couldn’t deny” John Threfall – Culture Vulture.

“I am a huge science fiction geek,” says Missie Peters. “So I’ve always been fascinated by the future. In addition to having fun with classic sci-fi tropes, this show explores why our visions of the future hardly ever match up with our reality. Also, I wear a silver onesie.”
